About Hormone Wellness MD

We help midlife women find what is really behind their symptoms, then build a plan that gets them back to feeling like themselves

Since 2019, Hormone Wellness MD has given midlife women something most had stopped expecting from a doctor’s office: time. Our two providers are certified in functional medicine and menopause care, and they use that training to look past the symptom to what is causing it, whether that is hormones, gut health, metabolism, or stress. We keep the practice small on purpose, with offices in Raleigh, NC and Birmingham, AL, so every visit has room for your whole story.

Our story

The beginning

Dr. Polly Watson trained as an OB/GYN and spent her first years in practice delivering babies and performing surgery. It did not take long to notice who was being overlooked: the women in the middle of life, whose symptoms were real and whose options were rarely explained. She left the delivery room for office gynecology and menopausal medicine, and for almost 20 years that has been her focus.

Going deeper

She studied menopausal medicine through the Menopause Society and sexual medicine through the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. Then she turned to the Institute for Functional Medicine, where she trained for years, earned her certification in 2019, and still returns for continuing education today. In her words, “Insurance-driven medicine made me feel like I was clicking boxes for bean counters.” Functional medicine gave her back the part of medicine she loved: time to think, and time to listen.

Hormone Wellness MD Founded

In 2019, Dr. Watson left employed practice and opened Hormone Wellness MD in a single room in Raleigh, NC, with one goal: restore the doctor-patient relationship.

Growing the team

Kate Willis, FNP, IFMCP, MSCP joined the practice in 2023. A nurse practitioner since 2009 with a background in gynecologic oncology, Kate had found her own answers through functional medicine and became certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2021. She is also a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and Obesity Medicine Certified.

Menopause Rescue Podcast

Dr. Watson launched the Menopause Rescue podcast in 2024, a conversation every other week about perimenopause, menopause, and midlife health, with Kate as a regular voice.

Office Expansion

The practice opened a second office in Birmingham, AL, in 2026 where Kate sees patients in person and virtually across Alabama. Dr. Watson continues to see patients in Raleigh, and Kate sees North Carolina patients virtually.

Today

What started in one room is now a team of five that has worked with more than 2,500 women.

How we practice

Food is medicine

Nutrition, movement, and sleep are part of every plan, not an afterthought to a prescription.

Root causes first

Functional medicine testing helps us find what is driving your symptoms before we treat them.

Time to listen

Our practice is intentionally small. Visits are long enough to hear your history and build a plan that fits your life.

Meet Your Providers

Both of our providers are certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Menopause Society.
