Gut Health

Health starts in your gut

If you are struggling with skin, immune, or energy issues, the answer may be in your gut. Bloating, irregular digestion, and food reactions are signals, not just annoyances. We test for what is behind them instead of guessing.

Does this sound familiar?

Gut trouble does not always show up as a stomachache. These are the signs we look for.

  • Bloating, especially after meals
  • Indigestion or reflux
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea or loose stools
  • Undigested food in your stool
  • Reactions to foods you used to tolerate
  • Skin flares, rashes, or breakouts that come and go
  • Catching everything that goes around, or slow to recover
  • Energy that does not match how you eat or sleep
  • Symptoms that started after a move or a water-damaged home

What is actually happening

Your gut does more than digest. It is where nutrients are absorbed, where a large share of your immune system lives, and where hormones like estrogen are processed and cleared. When it is out of balance, from a hidden infection, an environmental exposure like mold, a food sensitivity, or too little of the right bacteria, the effects show up far from your stomach: in your skin, your immune system, your energy, and your hormones.

Standard care tends to treat each of those separately, a cream for the skin, an antacid for the reflux, something else for the constipation. We look for the connection. Many of our patients have been told their labs are normal and still do not feel right. Often that is because no one has looked at the gut.

How we treat gut health

Not a one-size-fits-all protocol. We find out what is going on in your gut, then build a plan around that.

1

A detailed history

Your first visit is 60 minutes. We go through your digestion, your diet, past antibiotics and illnesses, travel, your home environment, and when symptoms started, because the cause is often in the timeline.

2

Testing that looks in the gut

Functional medicine testing such as stool and SIBO testing, which looks for hidden infections, imbalances in gut bacteria, and markers of inflammation and digestion, plus food sensitivity testing when it will change the plan. We treat what is there, not what we assume.

3

A plan you can live with

Targeted treatment for anything the testing turns up, food changes that are specific rather than sweeping (an elimination diet when it is warranted, not by default), and support for rebuilding a healthy gut so the results last.

“Since going gluten free after our last visit I have seen a life changing improvement in my digestion. I am no longer uncomfortably bloated and gassy after meals. I am going to the bathroom regularly when I used to be constipated most of the time.”
