Frequently Asked Questions

Which provider is right for me?

That depends on your needs and preferences. Dr. Watson and Kate Willis, FNP, IFMCP, MSCP are both certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Menopause Society, and both specialize in women’s midlife and menopause care. Dr. Watson sees patients in Raleigh, NC. Kate sees patients virtually in North Carolina, and both virtually and in person in Birmingham, AL.

Can your office perform my annual exams?
  • Dr. Watson performs pelvic exams, Pap smears, and breast exams.
  • Kate Willis, FNP, IFMCP, MSCP does not perform physical exams. Her patients keep a gynecologist or primary care provider for annual wellness exams.

Many patients keep their regular gynecologist so they can use their insurance benefits for annual exams, which makes virtual care with Kate an easy addition to your current health team. If you have exams with another provider, please share those records with us.

What conditions do you treat?
  • Perimenopause and menopause
  • Hormone imbalance (PMS and PMDD, PCOS, thyroid disorders, low libido and sexual dysfunction, fatigue, estrogen metabolism, fibroids)
  • Metabolic concerns (weight changes, insulin resistance)
  • Gut health (GI imbalances)
  • Adrenal dysfunction (stress, anxiety, sleep concerns, insomnia, brain fog)
  • Environmental illness (mold-related concerns)
  • Hormone-related or stress-related hair loss
  • Vulvar and urogynecological concerns (Dr. Watson only)
Is there anyone your practice isn't the right fit for?

Yes. Our care centers on hormone, metabolic, and whole-body health, and we are not the right practice for anyone with an active eating disorder or active substance use. Both are best supported by a specialized team, so we ask that you start there first.

Do I have to join the membership? What does it cost?

There’s no need to join before you meet us. After your first visit, if it feels like the right fit on both sides, we’ll invite you to become a member. Membership is how we stay connected with you between visits. It includes a video library of more than 100 lectures on the concerns our patients raise most, and watching them ahead of time helps you make the most of your appointments. See what membership includes, along with appointment pricing, on our Membership page.

Do you accept insurance?

We provide time-intensive, personalized care that often falls outside the limits of standard insurance models. For that reason, our office is out of network with all insurance providers, which is common among functional medicine practices. It gives our providers the flexibility to take a comprehensive, individualized approach to your health, without insurance-imposed time limits or treatment restrictions.

We give you a detailed billing summary that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. We do not submit claims on your behalf and cannot assist with claim resolution. We do not participate with Medicare.

Request Your Appointment

Once you’ve watched the video and reviewed our policies, send us your request. Our team will email you within 1-2 business days.
