Sexual Pain

Sex should not hurt. There are answers.

Wherever you are in your life, there are solutions for pain with sex. Left alone, it wears down how you see yourself, takes away pleasure, and strains relationships. Stop suffering, seek solutions.

Does this sound familiar?

Sexual pain shows up in different ways, and it is often carried in silence. If any of these are true for you, we are here to help.

  • Pain or burning with sex, at the entrance or deeper
  • Dryness that makes sex uncomfortable
  • You avoid intimacy because you expect it to hurt
  • It started, or got worse, around perimenopause or menopause
  • You raised it with a doctor and were rushed or brushed off
  • You were told it is a normal part of aging
  • It is affecting your confidence and your relationship
  • You have been dealing with it alone

What is actually happening

Sex is not something many patients, or many doctors, are comfortable talking about. Sexual medicine is barely taught in medical school, and most physicians are not prepared for it. So women who finally gather the courage to bring up pain often find neither empathy nor accurate information when they do.

Your sexual health matters as much as every other part of your health. Good sex relieves stress and connects us to the people we love. It is revitalizing, and it is worth treating. Pain with sex may have physical, hormonal, and emotional contributors and we will partner with you to address all of them.

How we approach sexual pain

We untangle the physical, hormonal, and emotional factors together, and we treat all of them.

1

A respectful conversation

Your first visit is 60 minutes, our clinicians start by listening. We go through when the pain began, what it feels like, what else has changed in your health, and anything you have tried.

2

Finding the causes

An exam and hormone testing where they are needed, so you understand the factors that created the pain instead of guessing at them.

3

Support on more than one front

Hormonal support, pelvic floor physical therapy, and sex therapy when it is the right fit, brought together in one plan and paced to your comfort.
